They're both great. Dialga has a unique and cool Steel-Dragon typing and Palkia was one of the best Kyogre counters in Gen 4 Ubers. It also only had one weakness (x2 Dragon) pre-Fairy and a x4 resistance to Fire and Water.

Gen 3 actually feel like monsters though, and the regis are fantastic representations of golems, if you can ignore the cutesy Lati twins and the Jirachi that is rare as fuck, its one of the best. Gen 4 was a massive downgraded despite the power and lore behind them and also had too many.

in the original it was puprosely ambiguous so you couldn't really tell if it was Dialga or Palkia, I suppose something like that would be impossible in 3D though which is why they did the fusion
