The way they worded the website implies that both will continue in the future. Generational games will still be similar to how they've always been, but Legends games will also release fairly often.

depends on whether they're using a side team for this game or not. 2023 at the earliest I would think. It would be the longest gap between gens since 4th gen -> 5th gen with 4 years in between. I actually wouldn't mind a 24 release so they spend extra time on gen 9.

I had been saying for the last year that they really should drag Gen 8 out a little longer to give extra time to make Gen 9 better at launch. Thankfully that's what it looks like they're doing. 2024 might be overkill because at that point I don't know what they would do in the interim, maybe LG Johto?
