Dunno about Mario Kart 8 Deluxe other than being tagged as "family game" but Animal Crossing: New Horizons was mostly purchased by women while at the same time is being recommended for the female masses. Perhaps AC:NH makes the target audience believe it to be a social game of sorts.
A reminder that such games are still on top 10 due to their franchise's popularity, so don't expect it to go 90th of top 100 anytime soon it the following 10+ years. Unfortunately games flop and yet sell well for their massive marketing, specially EASports titles.
