That event was probably the creation of the universe itself. Remember that Pokémon can just start existing out of fucking nowhere if the conditions allow for it, like with Voltorb and Magnemite. It's not, retarded leaker who associated feudalism with "old and Japanese" misused the term. Hokkaido wasn't even part of Japan during the feudal era, it makes no sense to project that aesthetic onto Sinnoh. I imagine this is much closer to the Russo-Japanese War than the Sengoku Period.
