Remaster: to create a new master of something.
A remaster would just be a straight port with HD sprites and nothing new being created for it. This is a 1:1 remake, regardless of whether or not the structure and content was changed, everything they created for the game is totally new compared to the original visually.
Regardless of whether or not you like it, it's not a remaster in any sense of the word
