are people seriously not allowed to be disappointed about getting 1:1 remakes of a DS game on a console? if I wanted to play the original game I would pull out my DS. if it's a case of getting younger people to play it, sell ports of the games and save development costs.

It's a handheld game getting ported to a console with a worse artstyle in an attempt at 'modernising' the old models and sprites for $10-20 extra. This is like paying $30 for a remaster of ...And Justice For All that not only doesn't fix the bass and expand the media to its full ambition, it just brings in the loudness war instead.

Yes, but I'm not talking about Legends, which, while I'm hyped for, is still a separate entity. This is an actual remake of D/P/Pt. It should be more advanced than the game on rudimentary hardware that's 2 decades old.

Every Pokémon game has exploration. Being able to travel around a map, doesn’t mean it’s quality exploration.

Legends looks like shit right now, but it has potential, specially if Masuda wasn't as involved because of the remake. It can go wrong in many ways, just like Sword and Shield did, but it's fine to be a bit hopeful, seeing as there's some change to the formula, meaning they're foresd to develop it differently.

I would say it depends how much they were showing was their best, most polished content
if they're saving the juicy stuff for later towards release I think it'll be pure kino and assuming it sells well (which it will) I think it'll be a big uptick towards the franchise finally progressing forward in time instead of being stuck in the mindset of handheld devs from the late 90s because it'll prove there is a big market for these games
