Legends Arceus was supposed to release this holiday, but development has had many problems. DP remakes weren't planned, Legends was supposed to be this big return to Sinnoh in a whole new way instead of the usual remake. Midway through 2020 they knew Legends wasn't going to be finished in time. They pushed it back and brought in a new studio to get a DP remake done as quickly as possible with Masuda over seeing the project.

Don't expect Legends to come out early 2022. There is no chance it releases before holiday 2022. They only announced it now with that release date in hopes that it would calm any controversy that could occur with the rushed DP remakes. Expect an announcement of Legends being delayed around December.
