I give new Pokemon lots of shit but I at least think the characters have gotten more expressive. This art-style isn't gonna help that at all with everything looking like a toy 90% of the time.

They'll just do very jarring expression swaps, like angry eyes or something. Its going to be bad.

It's funny because the argument is that it looks like this to appeal to children. I got into pokemon when I was 8, and never would have wanted to play something that looks like this. There is marketing to children, then there is marketing for actual infants, like 4 year olds.

They've limited their options for the characters to act, so unless they do what Lego does in their games and just do stupid motions and nonsensical movements, any exchange requiring emotion will have to cut to the full models or be animated
