>>46377186>>46377550If you're still around, here's what I suggest. Look up the version exclusive Pokémon if you're deciding between versions, and pick based on whether they seem fun to use or just look cool.
Yellow. RB are alright and some might consider the trainer battles superior. FRLG are technically better, but outside that change too little from the originals and have some baffling design decisions like disallowing new evolutions. Honestly, Kanto kind of sucks, I only enjoy it because of the original games' weird mechanics and bugs.
HGSS. Some of the best games in the series, though Crystal and GS aged pretty well, all things considered. Can't go wrong with any of them, but I highly recommend the remakes over the originals because of how much content and polish they added.
Emerald. ORAS isn't a terrible choice despite what people here will tell you, but I definitely find its main story less fun. RS also didn't age so badly, but I wouldn't suggest them for a first Hoenn playthrough.
Platinum. Turned Sinnoh from some of the worst regions in the series to one of the best. I really love this one, please don't do yourself a disservice by playing DP.
BW, then BW2. BW2 are what I and many others consider the best in the series, but it's nice to have context from the first games, which are still very good. Be warned though, do NOT play them back to back. As much as I like BW2, it reused a pretty big chunk of the content from BW1's main story and can feel quite samey in the middle.
XY, though there's no real choice here. Some of my least favourites in the series, I don't recommend them.
SM if you're interested in storytelling, USUM if you're interested in gameplay. I think SM have a pretty good story that USUM butchered, but I really like the new content and battles that USUM brought to the table.
SS, though again, you don't have a choice in the matter. Like XY, I think these are pretty bad and don't think they're worth playing.
