Legends takes place like 100 years before DP, all the fossilmons are creatures either from the Cambrian, the Devonian, or the Mesozoic. The most we can hope to see are organic inspirations of manmade mons and "older" forms of mons based on heavily bred domesticated animals such as yamper and stoutland.

Pokemon legends only takes place about 150 years ago, when Hokkaido (the island Sinnoh is based on) was being settled.
I'm not saying there won't be some older forms of mons based on recently extinct or domesticated animals, maybe even Ice Age animals, but not mons based on animals that went extinct before humans even existed.
