Maybe help me out with the outrage, call me a newfag, I don't care cause another site is completely useless for this shit. Yes, I will go back, don't worry. Anyway, I like Platinum, I like HG/SS, I like B/W and 2, I like X/Y, I like USUM, I like Sw/sh. What exactly am I missing about the massive hatedom? I'm aware of the cut content but I find all the games, GBA, DS, 3DS and Switch fun, I feel like I'm missing something and I just don't get it. They're not bad games, but they're not great games so is that the problem? Being ok isn't ok enough? I think TPC wants Pokemon to look a very specific way so things like Sw/Sh and BDSP looking like they do is not a matter of having a ton of money, they just care what it looks like and that the issue is a disconnect of what TPC wants versus what fans want. Is there more to it then the disconnect and that content you like isn't coming back, like the Frontier? I'll read replies but won't respond, I'll fuck off back to the other site.

>>46380962 I’m not reading all this but I get the gist, people here tend to just like complain but actually have no idea what they truly would want in their ideal Pokémon game, or they’re just memeing to feel part of the nonexistent clique mindset that permeates this board

>>46380962 We voice our dislikes all years long but sure, let's write it in this thread just for you because you're too retarded to read other threads. Fuck off retard.

>>46380962 I'll project a bit and say, like me, you just enjoy the comfort of the pokemon formula. You know when you get a new nintendo system you can buy the current gen pokemon game and you'll get that experience of picking a partner and journeying through the game world and growing a stronger and more diverse team as you overcome challenges.
What seems to upset people mostly (and rightfully so) is that pokemon has not taken a risk since pokemon blue. Consider the fact that in every single game since the inception of pokemon, the beginning of the game is almost exactly the same.
>be from small town >turn 10 >"okay little jimmy it's time for you to domesticate an extremely dangerous wild animal and travel the country alone because you're 10 now, have fun" >professor gives you a choice between 3 reskins of charmander squirtle and bulbasaur Also this person is correct as far as I can tell
>>46381008 Most people just want to bitch but can't seem to put into words what they actually want from the franchise

>>46381054 Here's how I would have a game start off if this megalith of a company gave me the budget to bring my vision to fruition.
>live in a city kind of like slateport from gen 3, big city but no gym, pokemon professor is the head researcher at a pokemon university >start the game off where you and 2 friends are watching a presentation he's doing for the public (this is a pokemon, they inhabit our world fighting alongside etc. etc.) >heading back towards home, you and your friends hear the distressed cry of a pokemon down an old alleyway on the outskirts of town >you run to investigate and see team rocket unloading caged pokemon from a truck >the three of you, being pokemon lovers, decide to try to save them >you sneak into the hideout and eventually find the caged pokemon after going through a little sneak mission that uses the age old mechanic of line of sight (say 3 rooms of avoiding grunts patrolling around getting progressively more complex) >you spring the pokemon free but they seem too weak to walk, you and your friends each decide to carry one, this is how you pick your starter >as you're heading back towards where you snuck in from, a grunt walks in the door and bumps into you >the pokemon you're holding squirms out of your arms and jumps between you and the grunt and looks back at you with determination >you battle the grunt, and upon winning, he runs to get reinforcements >you and your friends run to escape the base but find yourselves surrounded just as you're about to exit >an admin is there and thoroughly trounces you and then in a flash of light, the regional mythical pokemon appears and teleports you and your friends and their pokemon to safety >worried about the pokemon and in fear of being found by team rocket, you seek out the professor Anonymous

>>46381219 whoops this is 3/3 now
>he tells you that team rocket is a huge organization and that the admin you lost to is actually one of the lower members of the chain of command >if you really want them to leave you alone for good you'll have to face them head on, travel the region and seek the help of the gym leaders, take these pokedex's, you'll need a strong and diverse team if you ever want to escape the clutches of team rocket Now you have
>picked your starter >experienced your first battle >learned about the bad guy team >have a reason to take the pokemon league challenge All much more organically, and more importantly, in a different manner than the same exact way it's been done every gen since 1996. All of this would tie into the larger story that unfolds throughout the game instead of just
>ok here is guy take good care of him >hey friend I picked the one that has a type advantage over you let's battle! >WHAT HOW DID YOU WIN!?!!?! >hey there's these things called gyms, go fight them because that's the point of the game >also here's a pokedex because that's what happens in these games Anonymous
>>46381008 Shut up. Just shut up. We never asked for Harvest Moon graphics or Sinnoh turned medieval Japan, Hawaii-to-Alola style. Open world and DP remakes do not imply any of those in any way, so get your head out of your asshole.

>>46380962 The problem is that the game are mediocre in every aspects and the only way I can see people being satisfied is that they genuinely do not play other games beside Pokemon. The old games didn't look the best, the story wasn't great, they all had the same formula, but AT LEAST they had tremendous content. Not the games still look like shit, they still have barebone stories, they still use the same formula, AND they don't even have a good amount of content anymore. At least excel at ONE thing. Other RPGs on the Switch like Dragon Quest or Xenoblade don't just beat Pokemon at one aspect; they beat them in every aspects. They look better, they sound better, they have more intricate stories, they change things up instead of following a formula, and they have way more content.
Legends is a step in the right direction, but ultimately it's just following the Open World trend 5 years later than it should have AND it still looks mediocre in every other aspects.
