>>46382585Hardcore fans still make up a big enough chunk that an actual boycott would be reflected in the sales. Those fans were the only ones bitching about petty shit like the NatDex and it wasn't enough to make them not purchase the game unless they already decided on not buying it beforehand.
When shit like this goes viral before the game even comes out it just shows companies how much people were already anticipating this and were planning on buying it. If you didn't care at all then an artstyle change wouldn't have any effect on you. Maybe a small fraction skip the game but they end up getting replaced by the people drawn in from the free promotion.
