Acceptance. I've accepted these games are probably going to be mediocre and will spare my wallet from it. I was already burned by Sun & Moon, so if the new games turn out to be good it'll be a pleasant surprise.

I'm at the "who cares" phase personally. Pokemon's been a huge part of my life, but at this point It's just another multimedia series. if the games are bad, I won't get them. If they aren't bad, I will. If the merch looks boring, I won't buy it. If it looks cute of interesting, I'll shell out a couple of bucks. I think a lot of anons are reacting too strongly to the current state of the franchise really.

Pretty much this. RSE was the beginning of the end. These games were always destined for mediocrity after 2002. But they can still be fun distractions

Especially with the graphics like holy fuck.
In regards to RSE, I remember abandoning the mainline series out of sheer stress. I saw the store posters and shit for Ruby/Sapphire and had a freakout over having to catch them all ALL OVER AGAIN FOR A THIRD TIME and just noped away.
Spinoffs were generally solid for a much longer time. And then a friend dragged me back into Mainline Pokemon with Platinum, happily picked up HeartGold, started losing interest again with Black.
