I guess I should give ILCA some slack, but I just really wanted these games to be treated like the rest of them, and it's weird that the people in charge of this aren't using gen 8's engine. It's already there, but they opted to recreate it from scratch with an art direction that they should've seen as controversial. As far as I know, it was the textures and animations people had issues with in SwSh, the models themselves were fine.
Also yeah that opinion on this being the new norm for remakes in a way is super bizarre to me. I thought the point of these remakes were so these games and regions could be more accurately represented instead of only making it more "modern," if you know what I mean.
I really hope they'll address the backlash, but the last time something like that happened it was the monumental community response to the SwSh leaks, and they doubled down. Maybe since it's a different team they'll listen, but I don't expect anything.
