>>46400774>In reality it’s just another Ubisoft tower gameNot really. BOTW takes the idea and makes it actually interesting. That's what makes BOTW work in general. It takes open world concepts and improves them. Open world games had grown incredibly stagnate and BOTW fixes a lot of their issues. That was why it worked. The story was unstructured, scaling and balance is perfect, and you have actual freedom instead of the illusion of freedom.
For the towers they make the act of climbing them interesting. Additionally the way the maps are unlocked is different. When you climb an ubisoft tower the game gives you everything. You get waypoints and it tells you where interesting things like missions are. Just a bunch of shitty checklist tacks. BOTW just gives you a blank map, a warp, and a vantage point. Nothing is given to you. When I climb a tower in an AssCreed game it gives you a bunch of little map markers of things to do but BOTW that same tower just gives me a map and nothing else. I have to mark it myself, find it myself. The tower can let you see a few shrines but not all of them.
