There's a reason they didn't keep the chibi look after ORAS. The games are 3D and modern now and do not have to make abstractions and sacrifices just because.
It's the same with how nobody wanted a GO hybrid game or reskinned 3DS game but they deluded themselves to thinking it was good and that they never wanted more. TPC and GF can do literally anything and there will be a defense for it.
