The only completely garbage bugmon is Ledian, everything else is fine for ingame. Butterfree is great in Kanto, for example.

Blipbug is ugly but Orbeetle is one of my favorite designs in Pokemon. Blipbug (and Scatterbug) aside, Bug types have been all pretty great since gen 5, which I don't think had a single bad looking Bug (and Unova had a lot of fucking Bugs.)

I love Ariados, this is anecdotal as fuck and I'm not even gonna suggest that Ariados is a great Pokemon, but I actually used one in low ladder OU a couple times with varying success
Slap a Life Orb on him and let him Leech Life the pain away
Sucker Punch for priority and Toxic & Toxic Spikes for switch ins and reads
Pretty fun
