I believe preventing cheating is the primary reason it's done IRL. That or they'd have to have some "trusted" relay compute the battle state to prevent tampering, and make sure neither party can read the opponent's stats and movesets (this is held in memory by the console).
But even then, nothing would be preventing players from looking shit up on the internet (running damage calcs or whatnot) or chatting/gathering info with others, giving them an advantage.

I mean, it's one of those things you can't do while in a proper tournament setting, so within the context of my post, it'd be cheating, yeah. Sure, you could explicitly allow it when allowing players to participate remotely, but it's something to think about, as it's definitely an advantage over not being able to, and would definitely change the way people play.

No they don't, they do a lot of guessing and estimating based on the rough estimate of what they remember of the defending pokemon's stats, likely spreads and their experience with that specific matchup. None of them run the actual calcs in their heads, it's more reliant on experience and memorization.

I'd say something with Dark or Fairy typing, since you would be screwed otherwise if someone came out with a pure Psychic or Dark, like Sylveon or Umbreon. Ironically, both would be good picks if you can get the abilities down packed.

I used to think flesh-ribbons was a weird Pokemon, but the fucker grew on me...

Plus staples like Incineroar, rillaboom, comfey, Gothitelle, slowkings, and psuedos play between formats and are good to experience among greater adversity. I don't mean to be too prescriptive but what are your thoughts on the format anon? What box legend would you build a team around?

I am playing it and it's not my favorite format this season but it aint bad. If you really dislike the Restricted format they are going to an unrestricted format again in May I think.
Also Lunala has massive x4 weaknesses to Dark and Ghost, both of which are common enough, so it is just going to get fucked hard. My advice is Intimidate is huge rn, so use a Competitive mon.

When exactly are shiny rolls determined in dynamax adventures?
I found out that if you go into an adventure without connecting to the internet, youll get the same selection of pokemon every single time you reset before you select your pokemon to take away with you.
For example, if I catch a Charmeleon then shiny check at the end, will I always get the same result because the shiny rolls are determined when the room was created or can I keep reseting to try for that 1% shiny chance?
And by extension, will this strategy work on legendaries, ie get a good selection of pokemon so that you can always beat the legendary, no matter how much of an asshole they are such as kyogre, xerneas, groudon and then shiny check at the end. This will be much faster but the down side is that you have to pay to keep reseting.
