You realize that these games are not to be used in VGC, right? It's still going to be SwSh.
Why would they make new forms if they won't even be used anywhere that matters?

At best it's just going to be like LGPE where you only had the old megas and a new mythical.

The merch doesn't confirm anything. They've been pretty clear about BDSP being "faithful remakes", I don't think they would do that if there were plans as big as a gimmick.

VGC used ORAS.
I don't see why VGC wouldn't use BDSP, assuming BDSP are regular mainline games.

You are forgetting that they have to be compatible with each other. Unlikely that 2 games with heavily different graphics styles would be compatible to trade and battle.

You just need it to be compatible with Home, which it will be. SS doesn't matter any more when new games are out, just like XY was to ORAS and SM was to USUM.

Every updated version or remake has had new Pokemon or formes since Platinum. There are some toy lines in Japan that are gonna have megas around the time that BDSP release, but there's no actual evidence.

We don't know this. The artstyle is similar and they're re-using a bunch of assets. It's more likely it is the same engine just as both SWSH and LGPE used the same one.
