Whatever games are linked to the massive Pokemon connectivity chart that started in gen 3 are mainline.
So Stadiums, Colosseum, PBR, Let's Go, Home, Bank, Lets Go, DP remakes, and Legends are all part of the mainline series.

BDSP still has a chance to be good since we know little about the games. Honestly, I am just left with more questions then answers. I don't know much about the game yet so I can't determine whether it is good or bad.

I personally do believe that people could be more constructive here. The amount of times people who hate the games talk about about other people or act like they're not objective and people ask disagree are stupid is pretty staggering. It's really rotten culture and there is no benefit to it.

I think having grievances is perfectly fine, as someone positive on the games I think they desperately need some graphical tweaks, but being honest this board has never had "respectful" dissenters dude, it's mostly just people screeching to screech.

You shouldn't expect constructive discussion on this site in the first place. But if you look anywhere else, you'll see people literally acting like that, being personally offended at people criticizing the same, even if said criticism is perfectly valid and super tame compared to what we see in /vp/. It's been like that with every game release, but got infinitely worse after the #BringBacktheNationalDex fiasco. People who before would just ignore criticism and move on now seem to get extremely defensive at the mere sight of it.
Just look at Twitter or forums discussing the games like Bulbapedo and Serebii and you'll understand what I mean (actually don't look there, it's not worth it).

I think part of that comes from assuming taste and assuming what's best for everyone without raising a question what people would like to see or what their ideal game looks like.

You'll notice people tend to defend low-tech choices because they get off on Pokémon upholding nostalgia.

It doesn't at all though. LGPE was a linear remake with Go mechanics for new players, as far as we know LA is an open world prequel with mechanics more like other mainline games due to things like wild battles being in.

It's the same principle. Let's GO was a pseudo-sequel set in Kanto with more open elements and the simplification of things like abilities and held items.
Legends is a pseudo-prequel set in Sinnoh with even more open elements but the simplification of things like abilities and held items is still there.
