My favorite detail is the little mandate that there be a train track running straight across Johto.

It's really cool that despite it not being there in the original games, and each area having its own style, they still stuck with the idea that the track needs to be there, down to the exact position so it lines up.

I have a bias for rural areas, but something about Johto's atmosphere is special. I like that newer regions have a lot of variety in biome but Johto feels like a little local adventure. It captured that original idea of pokemon before the series needed to expand the scope to keep feeling fresh
