Tower was frustrating, but glad I got through it. It takes luck to get gold, due to all of the shit the AI throws at you like you mentioned.

My team was latias, metagross and milotic. Couldnt get past the 50-56 mark for a while, so I put metagross instead of latias as my lead and thats what got me gold. Quick claw heracross was always the scariest thing for me, I dont OHKO it with latias. I used optimal natures and EVs but IVs were not perfect by any means. Latias had low IVs but i spent enough time SRing for a timid nature.

Absolutely recommend milotic; rest + toxic and marvel scale was so good

Gold in Pyramid, Dome, and Pike. Wanted to get tower as well, got close a couple times but never ended up finishing the job. Frontier was such a timesink when I was younger.
Really advice to anyone that tries, as someone who bred all his pokemon legit, just inject and save yourself the sanity and time. Nothing worse than sinking a few hours into a pokemon to find out its worthless lmao.
Palace is ass and so is factory.
I used a wobbuffet, metagross, suicune combination to win the battle dome, it worked great. Fuck one hit ko moves it was bullshit.
That's all I have to say...

yeah, your team's a little bit similar to mine. latios + metagross + heracross. might swap heracross out considering it has literally 0 attack ivs (took a peek when replacing my rtc), and milotic does sound pretty good. i do have options for kantomons though, considering whether it'd be worth bringing on dragonite or a tyranitar

I never bothered to get perfect IV's but when I happened to have good ones they damn sure made a difference. You should at least make sure the IVs aren't terrible in the stats that matter for whatever purpose that mon serves.

You can do it without perfect IVs, but id still breed until the stat judge rates your mon highly. You can get 1-2 perfect IVs on a mon without too much autism

The only one i was ever able to beat as a kid was the silver pike

Kinda wanna go back to it and beat them nowadays to finish my childhood game (and maybe do the contests too, finish that trainer cars and 100% the game)

What pokemons would youbguys advice? I heard Latios and Metagross are solid picks

Should i worry about 5/6 ivs or can i get by with ev training, good nature and not completely shit stats

pokemon I found useful, metagross, regice, suicune, skarmory, blissey, aerodactyl, medicham, wobbuffet
but make sure your team has some synergy and isnt just a few "good" mons thrown together
experiment, things like putting counter on regice got me outta some shit often

You dont need perfect IVs but try to have decent ones, maybe a 31 IV on the mons most important stat if you have the patience.

A bulky water is always good to have. Just remember that stuff like dragon dance can always be countered by a quick claw mon, so youre never really too safe. Use bulbapedia to check the potential movesets of your opponents once you get up to 42-49+ wins. Having a mon that knows toxic or rest might be good to pp stall or counter pokemon that spam mirror coat/double team/toxic/etc. You will see a LOT of double team

You can win all master rank contests pretty easily. Just use good berries to get the most out of your pokeblocks.
