The bigger issue is that by taking the literal approach that was mentioned back when Pokemon and Humans had no distinguished qualities. Which I assume they mean physical ones.
However, it might mean societal ones? Pokemon technically are befriended in this setting or just "Allies" instead of captured, so maybe, but I highly doubt that's what the "Indistinguishable" statement meant.
