Finding people to talk to out in the wilderness is a fun part of Pokemon. So I guess the real question is, would the writing be on par? Pokemon usually can't write a story worth shit, but I do generally enjoy hearing what weird little lives the people in Pokemon live.

Impossible to say until we see more info.
Could be the best thing ever.
Could be complete trash.
We've seen 3-4 grassy areas, some low render distance plains with nothing to see, and a town that looks like building assets slapped onto the default ground texture.

If we start to see more then it's safe to get excited.
Until then it's just what we have seen. Which honestly isn't that impressive for a grand reveal.

Because the only thing it'd have over other Pokemon games would be it being "open-world", which all depends on Game Freak's ability to make an interesting open world, which is incredibly unlikely.

They give like one line of dialogue afterwards. Sure it can be cute, but it's not like they kept the PokeGear idea from HGSS that gives em some more meat as characters with rematches and such.
