>let your safari zone objects appreciate in potency
>maybe pick a few appricots and makes some pokeballs
>and admire immaculate map design
>take a shortcut through the dark cave
>or take the long way around and see if your pokemon find any of those golden leaves

HGSS is BASED because they intended for you to play it in a very particular way. And if you go along with it you'll find the experience very rewarding. HGSS are unique in that respect, or rather they would be if gsc didn't exist.

When I was a kid I just roamed around catching and evolving every Pokemon I can and grinding for the game corner larvitar and dratini. My team ended up being like level 55ish when I faced Clair and my Pupitar evolved after that battle. Then I found out that you got to revisit Kanto and I was hyped as fuck. Those were the days anon. I really need to have that mindset again.
