After all this time we finally got an open world Pokemon game. Now should Gamefreak drop the original formula for this or keep doing new things like the Zelda franchise?

Hell no, I never wanted this from mainline games. Hopefully the Legends title is indicative of a separate series cause of not then I’m done with it. The wild area was gay enough, I’m sure this will come at the cost of any dungeons or other areas. I’d really just be fine if the games stayed XY-graphic wise, maintains a grid while in 3D and not cutting any of the pokemon. Open world is a cancer and not every game needs to be like that

This Legends is gonna be a separate brand and it honestly should be. I still like the gym challenge and Pokémon league. So the main series will continue with Gen 9 and the Legends series will focus on the main mythical of each region in the past.

I think you misunderstood me, swsh is a shit game that’s most likely full of barren routes because of the wild area. I’m saying a game going full open world is only going to worsen this trend. I don’t think dungeons have been at their prime though since BW2

they should keep this. it gives better reasons for interactability with your party (eg. actual riding and flying, surfing, etc.). also I just really find games like BOTW super comfy to dick around and do literally nothing in for a couple of hours other than explore, maybe fish or gather food. Just start adding features back in once they realise this trial run is a smashing success.

I think they should definitely take a leaf out of Zelda's book and keep doing both. A big, high effort 3D open world game maybe once or twice a console generation, and tide us over with old-style 2D top down games like the good old days.

They gave the remakes to another dev which is interesting enough. I mean, I'd appreciate if Gamefreak stuck with trying to go forward with Legend idea and letting another companies trying with mainlines.

Pls, just give me 2D again. Also, Spike Chunsoft would be interesting.

Yes, this is the first time in a long time that a Pokémon game has felt like an actual “adventure”. Of course, if it continues, they’ll have all the stuff from the older games in (Gyms, cities, towns, E4, etc.) I think Pokémon needs a good shakeup, they can keep doing remakes in the old fashion if they want to though
