People like to criticise Pokemon calling them the largest media franchise in the world, but in a way that's exactly one of the reasons why things are like this.
Pokemon's audience is so broad that there's always going to be a lot of people getting disappointed, and if you're a nerdy young adult you're the most likely kind of a person to get disappointed by whatever they're doing. Their goal as a company is to make money, that doesn't make them bad, it makes them a company.
Just take the good that they have done and that you enjoyed, and move on and enjoy that.
