There’s more to it than they’re showing, there’s stealth, but like the other anons said, other Pokémon will most likely be able to attack you. Also for sneaking through enemy bases

It's to be stealthy so you can avoid being seen by Pokémon when you're trying to catch them.
They just used the "dodge roll" because it's something universally understood.

Special pretty regularly has battles center around taking out the trainer and not the Pokemon so it'd be nice of something tried to follow that. I don't think every game needs to follow that idea, I still want traditional turnbased games, but it'd be nice to have options.

These, also maybe buffering falls from ledges. It should be canon that the protag can’t take proper damage but there is out of battle chip damage that can after party Pokémon. Like poisoning from gens past but for small falls

Because one of the leaked development slides outright mentions Pokemon can attack the players. It seems to only transitions into battle if you have the Pokemon out, or if you throw the Pokeball to release them. The slide also mentions and shows players having control of themseles during battle at it seems to be an ATB system.
