in Epic Battle Fantasy 5 (better rpg than all pokemon games desu) there are these interesting mechanics where if you inflict one status on an opponent, and inflict another certain status on the opponent, they combine to form a more powerful status effect. If you inflict both Wet and Chill onto an opponent not resistant to Freeze, they will be frozen and unable to attack until a timer runs out or they are attacked or healed. Maybe Pokemon could do some gimmick like that idk.
