Is it too late to pick these up? Will the multiplayer be dead with the remakes? Is it all hackers?
Craving some Pokemon time and haven't played since sun (which had way too many cutscenes)

I guess not. Most of the event stuff is obtainable in some way. Unless you really wanted your Shiny Zeraora.

No, ranked online is still being supported. In fact, some are speculating the Sinnoh games won't replace it at VGC so it will still be active for the next few years.
