Pokemon is for everyone, and the fact that children are the main audience doesn't exclude adults nor excuses Pokemon games to flop in quality.

The kid's game excuse is a reminder that the games were always intended to be a casual monster collecting sim and not an immersive jrpg. People on this board only think pokemon is bad because they want to take it seriously. If you walk into a kid's movie or watch a fuckin cartoon and then go on the internet and complain that it didn't have the depth and complexity of a dostoevsky novel you're just gonna look like a retard.

The truth is that pokémon has always been aimed at kids, show me adult humor or innuendos in the animé (and by adult i don't mean sexual or violent joies) and also that tpc doesn't feel like they owe shit to older fan since :
They just have to design a kiddy game sprinkled with some nostalgia like charizard pandering, kanto mentions and they know the crux of the older fan base will still by it, they want the endless supply of new fans si they focus on the kids. Légends Arceus looks like one if the first times since Coliseum tpc tries to aim their game to an older audience (and by older i mean around 12 years old)

I was referring to this desu. It's fallacious to cherrypick exclusions to some standard like what counts or does not count as a 'kids game'. The truth is, rather, that the whole notion of games (especially non-Western games) being 'aimed at' a particular audience is too reductionist to merit any serious consideration. Pokemon markets to all demographics by various means, and Spongbob was (before Hillenburg ripped) very fluid in its intended audience. Violence and sexual innuendos don't make the mature, to be sure, but they certainly can't be excluded simply because their inclusion, by their nature, is more adult-oriented. Point is, le pokemon is a kids game therefore X is a retarded argument.

That's dumb, i don't care about how the game is intrinsicly, the New games are by design made for a kids audience, and by that i mean that, from the plot to the aesthetics and of course the gameplay, everything is made in order to facilitate engagement for what the developpers perceive a kid to like. The reason why spongebob is a stupide example IS because the show has always had a stoner cartoon energy which the Nick marketing teams and animations are aware and truc to capitalise on, for pokémon they obviously know that adults play the games but they want to target a younger audience and try to design the game around their Idea of a kid's interest (ie thé InFamous masuda quote of the hoenn frontière) so retorting to the argument that "it's just a kid's game" n'y saying "yeah ? Well kids cartoon are sometimes for adults you know ?" Is just a non sequitur. There are kids game that are good, pokémon is just a Bad kiddy game made by developpers that know they can cet away with it.

And yes, Pokemon is also directed to teens/adults. Hec, i'll even argue that your typical little kiddo will have hard time understanding battle mechanics and jrpg games overall so mainline Pokemon series is more enjoyed and directed to teens and above.
