Gamefreak knows that they are at a point where adding more pokemon is redundant so Legends is their attempt at rebooting the series by exploring the lore.

I'd be okay with that if we could just have one more game with a full national dex so I can leave the living dex I spent years building in the cartridge for the last generation of pokemon.

It will slow the pace of new generations, but worth it imo. Legends was a really cool and unexpected idea and I look forward to the lore of other regions too. If it does well, hopefully we will see more nonlinear elements/freedom in the "core" series games too

The whole "generation" thing was never sustainable. I think 8 will be the last traditional one. We'll never see a full national dex again, and it's gonna be a more traditional jrpg from now on, introducing several new monsters and bosses with a good batch of returning monsters. Kinda what dragon quest does.

You guys are overestimating how well LA will do. I doubt it will beat SwSh sales, it'll probably be between 10-15 mil

It will sell less than SWSH but keep in mind that they aren't milking it for two versions and are actually being consumer friendly here.

It's not coming out until 2022. I think sales will heavily depend on the advertising campaign.

If they can get people seeing it as the BOTW of Pokemon, they may get some great sales.

For sure, I'm just saying that splitting a game into two versions artificially increases sales. By how much, we cannot know. Who knows how much less SWSH would have sold if it were one game.

Don't forget, the DLC also increases sales since most people buying them normally buy/wait for the 3rd version. Legends needs to outsell SWSH without DLC to be considered a worthy investment just because of the greater effort being placed into it compared to traditional titles.
