>>46451695I'm starting to embrace it. Going through Pokemon games and it's obvious that they're all just representations and abstractions of what's actually there. You really notice it in the early games but frankly it's not that different in the 3DS games with the large backgrounds in battle or in other things like Mantine surfing. They just don't do anything on a large scale partly because they're lazy but also so it's not endless open land.
Plus this means it could focus more on content not on graphics which has been a problem. Granted that's a possibility, not a guarantee, and not something I'm holding my breath for.
