the brainlet take is muh socialized healthcare! as though the pokemon league is some kind of government body
the league is a corporation, it always has been. The leaders and elite 4 are athletes, battles are a sport. Pokemon centers and marts are owned by the same company, and healing at centers is a courtesy to league challengers. Why? because by keeping them healthy they then turn around and spend more money on items and fees for their failed gym attempts.
