The premise of Legends Arceus has me eager to learn even more about the history of the Pokemon world in ancient times. Were people fed to Pokemon as sacrifices? Did Pokemon fight against people in wars? Were people pitted against Pokemon in stadiums for spectators to witness?

I doubt they will show any of it. So far, pokemon wants to be kid-friendly game. Not sure if LA will break this rule.

The whole premise doesn't really make sense desu.
If Pokemon are just animals then human evolution would have progressed the same way it did in real life
>humans hunt the big fat dumb ones to extinction (milktank, bidoof)
>humans avoid the big scary ones (Luxray, Arcanine)

IDK I always thought Pokemon made the most sense in a post-apocalyptic world. Kantoooo even has referencees to some big war that could have gone nuclear and fucked up all the animals into being like X-Men Fantastic Four shit.
Like, Pikachu IS just a Rat right? But like with electricity...and Seadra literally is just a goldfish with a fucking horn. Those are some WICKED mutations

That theory still holds water. Humanity may have been reset as well in a post-apocalyptic world. The animals became pokemon while humans were only able to salvage some of their technology. That just would have happened hundreds/thousands of years before Legends Arceus.

How do you explain fossil pokémon then?

My theory is that the Pokémon world, while similar, is completely separate from ours, with the main difference being the presence of some weird energy that turns any animal or plant that becomes too complex into magical fire-spewing monsters.

Like we know their world has plants, microbes and even small animals like plankton, but anything bigger/more complex than that is replaced by Pokémon (except humans of course). So I think this "everything eventually turns into a pokémon" is just a natural evolutionary law of their world.
