I started with Sapphire and enjoyed the subsequent game releases and their focus on story. Gen 5 was good and Black 2 as one of my favorites next to Platinum. X/Y was a bit boring and I only playes S/M and skipped USUM.
SWSH was very enjoyable independent of the weird marketing choices that gamefreak made. I really liked the characters and story as well as the ways you could interact with the pokemon. I didn't care for the gen 1 and 2 games because the gameplay revolves around entirely catching and raising pokemon, which get's boring without the other ways to play besides grinding and battling with such a relatively small pool of pokemon
