Thing is, by the time you find him, you'd have beaten EVERYONE so you wouldn't get any use out of him outside of the E4 and Red. Plus it takes 50 years to T-tar, so honestly, they should've given him to much earlier like Dratini.

G/S/C are my favorite, crystal is probably my favorite game period. I love everything about them, and I think objectively HGSS are the best in the franchise, but if you think there isn't a retarded level curve, then your iq is lower than the level of wild pokemon in kanto.

Larvitar should have had Dratini's spot in the Goldenrod Game Corner, especially since Dratini can be had in the wild in Blackthorn.

I'm fine with making a Pokemon late game only, but not if you can only catch it in the very last cave, only at level 20 and it doesn't fully evolve until 55.

Getting dratini early is way more of a grind than getting Gabite early which just requires you to exolore an optional cave. It's based. The "putting pseudo legendaries late in the game" thing that RSE/GSC did is annoying as hell. Axew is also available mid game as opposed to late game.

You can get Larvitar in HGSS after only five badges.
Complete Baoba's first mission. After 3 ingame hours he calls you for another mission. just leave the game on for 3 hours. Now you can switch to Mountain Area and Larvitar appears in there.

Like half the pokemon are unusuable during a normal playthrough because you'll be stuck with an NFE shitmon for >95% of your run.

I can understand pseudolegendaries not evolving until late, like level 55 (not 64 like hydreigon, that's fucking retarded). Those guys really aren't meant to be used on a playthrough. It's more like "oh shit, E4 Drake just fucking curbstomped me with that Salamence thing I've never seen before in my life, what the fuck". And then afterwards you go searching for it somewhere else.

Probably the worst offender. I wanted to use volcarona so badly, and I kept the larvesta in my party for a while, getting inpatient on when the fucking thing would evolve. Finally decide to check the wiki, and saw it was level fucking 59.

Even GF knows they fucked up with that one because they just gift you an impossible volcarona in BW2 that's like 30 levels lower than it should be to evolve.

It’s not overpowered for Johto though. Pulpitar is a worse Graveler with Furret BST, and you’re only in the early 40s for the E4. You could unironically drop Larvitar in the dark cave before gym 1 and it’d be a mediocre team pick for the majority of the game.

it's not overpowered. Larvitar and Pupitar are average. They don't become powerful until they finally evolve into Ttar, which is level 55. In GSC you probably don't even reach a team of level 55 mons by the time of the E4 without significant grinding and overleveling (especially given the fact that pseudolegendaries level up slower and need more EXP).

Even if larvitar were theoretically available early game, you'd need to spend the entire game raising it up just to finally get the pay-off of a tyranitar at the very end.
