I am going to replay the DS Pokémon games in release order.
I haven’t played them since release and want to see myself if this gen was really good as people say they are.
Should I play the “enhanced” rom hacks or should I just play vanilla?

definitely just play the enhancement hacks
personally, i dont have time to play both the vanilla and enhancement ones, so why not just play the better one from the beginning so it doesnt muddy your experience of the game? if you want to stay true to the originals, use the vanilla patch to drayano's roms that get rid of stuff like extra level up moves and typings.

You CAN, it's just a silly thing to do if you aim to play all the DS games, cause BW1 and 2 are different experiences

Enjoyment of BW2 is not contingent on playing BW1
