>>46487494Toxapex has a combination of fundamental core problems that make it too overbearing for OU incomparison to other defensive or even other Regenerator Pokemon.
Its insane longevity is one of the main problems. Most defensive Pokemon outside of Ubers usually have at leastone kind of aspect they tend to struggle with. Whether it be the lack of bulk one side, being weak to status, being easily worn down by hazards (although HDB can fix that issue in gen 8), having no reliable recovery, having an exploitable double weakness or just generally a more vulnerable typing, struggling to punish certain switch-ins or simply not having bulk that is actually that great and mostly relying on typing/ability to stomach hits. Toxapex doesn't really struggle with any of this, at least not to the extent almost every other defensive Pokemon outside of Ubers does.
It has an amazing typing with 8 resistances coupled with great mixed bulk that lets it customize its EV spread and wall both physical and/or special attackers. Its typing also makes it immune to being poisoned which is very important since it. Yeah, it also has 3 weaknesses but all of these 3 weaknesses have obvious immunities commonly found on almost every team. Couple that with the fact that it gets rewarded for switching out every time and it's infuriating to actually break it down properly. It has a never-ending health bar between recovery from Regenerator, Recover and usually Black Sludge. It's the best and most braindead scouting tool in OU since it can switch into almost everything, live almost everything and scare out almost everything with either status or item removal. It's also huge pain in the ass to switch in safely because of the same reasons. It shuts down sweep attempts with Haze and it puts huge pressure on offensive builds with potential Toxic Spikes. It's the borderline perfect defensive Pokemon. Only thing that sucks is that its damage output is rather low but everything else makes up for it.
