"Arc/ark" would be アーク (aa-ku) in Japanese. The "aru" (アル) comes from alpha (アルファ arufa) because Arceus is literally called the "Alpha Pokemon" and is connected to the Unown, who also reside in the Ruins of ALPH. The "seusu" (セウス) comes from "theus" (セウス seusu Greek word for "god". Japanese phonetics can't recreate the "th" sound so it uses セ (se) or ス (su) instead. Thus, the English romanization of "Arceus" is completely wrong. It's actually supposed to be "Altheus". So the only valid pronunciation is the Japanese one (the canon one).
