No expectations. What I saw looked like a relatively fun E3 demo I'd wait in line 30 minutes to play. No idea if it'll be any good.
Considering it's an ATB gauge and the Pokemon actually seem a bit more animated than usual, it could be great. The area we saw was a lot less flat than the areas in SWSH, there were real trainer mechanics, and the premise is interesting. But at the same time we know so little about it it's hard to say how vast it'll be.
If I had to guess though, I'd imagine we'll get a game with a map around 1/3rd the size of BOTWs, a massive (but not insanely massive) world filled with Pokemon to catch, things to find, and an ancient story to uncover. I can also imagine the dexcut will stay in effect, certain battle effects will be drastically different/removed, and the focus of qol changes/additions will not be on "competitive" Pokemon like in other mainline games. Instead, it'll be such a massive jump that I could see them removing Multiplayer/POV entirely.
That being said the most pressing thing is the game's presentation, which I expect won't be too different by release. The low frames seem to be this game's way of handling the horrible pop in from SWSH and I can't see it being improved much.
It'll essentially be a big open game that tries to be BOTW and can be a fun romp but is overall going to split fans up the more we find out about it, removing battle mechanics to fit the ATB, focusing on exploration QOL, and having little in mind for comp players as it'll be mainly a singleplayer experience.
tl;dr Will look kinda bad, play pretty okay and make /vp/ seethe. People will post BDSP and say "APOLOGIZE"
