why are eggs still a thing? i understand its to keep the ambiguity of where babies come from but why cant mammalian pokemon just give birth in the daycare?

It was meant as a game mechanic. That's why Kangaskahn hatches with a baby in the pouch. It wasn't meant to be taken literally.

In canon they literally have no idea where they come from. Many NPCs state this throughout the series.

why the FUCK don't we have textured eggs yet? it's the same as making a flag design while having to make sure the ends are seamless and don't cutoff shapes. oh right. game freak would have to include a new untextured egg model too for every evolution line just like a new vivillon model for every pattern.

Personally I think they should implement a system like Pokémon GO where the eggs are different colors depending on how long it takes to hatch.
And maybe having the pattern on the egg be stars instead of dots if the Pokémon inside is shiny.

All Pokémon, even mammalian seeming monsters are more like Monotromes. Just imagine a world were live birth lineages never took hold. They also imply being more related than animals IRL because they can breed with numerous other species.

Pokemon Channel had a guess the egg from the texture minigame, and they had a good handful of designs of even hoenn mons like torchic. I think thats the last time I saw unique egg textures though, I liked them. I think they decided they were too easy to guess or memorize so whats the point of hiding it in an egg, so they made all the eggs the same. or they were lazy or afraid of conflicting with future babymon designs or something.

I wish each Pokemon family had its own egg pattern like in the anime and concept art, instead of the Yoshi egg looking design that the game uses.

It'd also be cool if you could randomly stumble upon a nest and take an egg for yourself
