I finally beat Lance I never realized how strong his team was against Fire types but Gary (Magcargo) carried me though with ancient power (used ancient power >16 times and only got 1 boost)

nice, I always loved Magcargo but its typing is painful. I know his dragonite carry thunder/fire blast/blizzard per dragon, but I'd figure gyarados would be your only real threat otherwise

Aerodactyl outsped my entire team so I basically had to item stall till it ran out of Rock Slide pp. Not to mention dragon rush never missed, and outrage always critted for some reason. I basically used yawn, healed, then used ancient power, repeat for every Dragonite.

I lost against Whitney the first time but I only had Quilava and Slugma (~Lv. 21) at the time, miltank of course stomped and roll-outed them to death pretty easily so I had to grind a bit. Clair was much easier as Flareon outsped all her dragonairs and returned them to death and I simply PP stalled kingdra till it ran out of hydro pump.

On second thought I’m pretty sure I also had to grind a bit to beat Clair too but at least with Clair I was able to save, leave and go train. If I lost against Lance I would have had to go through the entire elite 4 again and honestly I didn’t want to have to have to over level to beat him, I tried all kinds of item combinations and different lead Pokémon just to see what would be most successful.

I got my first one from the pokeathelon. You can buy one every Tuesday for 2500 points. The only reason I never evolved my Growlithe is because I play for a couple hours everyday so I didn’t feel like putting my game on pause till this Tuesday. You can also get a fire stone from a trainer if they call you on your pike gear but that particular trainer has never called me yet, though the trainer which gives you a lead stone did.

Yes it does. There’s that and also my Slowking is bulky so they help with fire greatly.

Platinum playtrough.
I grabbed some ancient breedjects that i had on my ancient Diamond file and sent them over to Plat.
I have to say I am pleasantly surprised by Ursaring. Didn't think it would hit as hard as it does and Drifblim is really great too, Sandslash is An old favourite of mine and Dragonite is the powerhouse of the team.
On Victory Road now. Is my team good enough for the League/Cynthia?

OP here, so far I restarted the power plant, beat Lt. Surge, and caught the Snorlax blocking Diglett cave, and as I said I was able to evolve Fluffy (formerly Growlithe) and I’m working on catching her up in levels.

I haven’t decided whether I want to do some more party swaps but I’m pretty attached to most of my team except for Rapidash. It was easy to switch out Growlithe for Ho-oh before the Elite 4 since Ho-oh is already level 45 when you encounter it and Growlithe was a weak link being in evolved and level 39 (to get Extreme speed upon evolution) but being that Red is so strong I don’t know if I want to allocate exp to another Pokémon and then have to grind that much more before I get to Red.

I didn’t even catch Entei till after I reached Indigo Plateau, and also I didn’t want to use legendaries on my team to begin with. I rationalized using Ho-oh because I had to have a Pokémon with fly anyway and Charizard or Moltres are not available till KANTOOOO so I just used it for fly and to have a full team of 6. When I fight Red if I have too much trouble I’ll consider using Moltres/Entei/Ho-oh rather than over leveling
