>>46498284It confuses me a bit, especially due to how Meowth learned how to do it. It'd be one thing if they just said "Oh meowth is just smarter than all other meowth or has better memory to learn all these words." but no... he's just a regular Pokemon/Meowth who learned how to talk from listening in on a speech class and practicing REALLY REALLY HARD. It didn't come freely either, he lost one or two move slots for it and as such it effects his combat effectiveness and makes him a bit of an oddball to other Pokemon (even though that last one has not been shown as of late). So its not something most Pokemon would actively want to do. Keyword being "most", logically speaking some Pokemon would gain benefits from learning this skill even at the cost of one or two moveslots.
In the case of Psychics more of them should be using telepathy as well it would come in handy, plus it would really benefit researchers in both cases. Having a Pokemon translator is very good and can expand on how a lot of these mysterious creatures function. Rotom exists too so it could work that magic as well if they started using them more like that.
Its a show that doesn't like us asking these questions however. So its best suited to just ignore it...
