The first Pokemon Ranger was pretty difficult.
If your fidget spinner top thing broke, you would have to start over again. This made the final bosses very hard, though they changed it in the sequels so your capture progress slowly drains instead of loosing it all.

Cynthia isn't that hard, i beat her with Empoleon. Red is harder because everyone in Kanto was weaker than Johto and you can't grind if you don't stick just to your starter and a side mon.
