Likely, sure, but people are already treating like it's confirmed, so I'm sure there's people setting themselves up for disappointment.

I hate how GF elected to use "100 years" as the frame of reference. 100 years ago in our timeline we had cable cars and animated films. 100 years prior to modern Pokemon day makes it look like a fucking prehistoric shithole with empty fields everywhere using wooden Pokeballs. It doesnt add up.

There is always a rumor about alt forms.
I don't think a different evolution path for the starters is possible, they aren't native of Sinnoh, they were brought there by the professor.

I think the theory of them getting some sort of power-up form is more likely.

As much as I want Sinnohan forms for Decidueye, Typhlosion, and Samurott, I just don’t see it happening since it’s confirmed that the starters were brought from Alola, Johto, and Unova respectively.

This. The only way I see new forms for the starters is if something drastic happens in the story that causes them to evolve differently. Maybe exposure to a powerful pokemon that has weird powers or someone has an item that affects them in a strange way.

If you transfer a Pikachu from Kalos to Alola and give it a Thunder Stone it turns into Alolan Raichu, in Pokemon the place of birth is irrelevant but the place of evolution is not, which is why you have to take a Pikachu into an ultra wormhole to go outside of Alola and successfully evolve it into a normal Raichu.
