Honestly if Megas were post-game (although the post-game should be DPPt length at the bare minimum for it to work), went to more ‘Mons that needed them, and were used by more trainers (have all ‘boss battles’ use them from the moment the player can, all rematches, etc) they’d be fucking kino. LGPE unironically uses Megas well and them being in the Battle Tree was also a pretty good use

Z-moves were even worse because they were narrative dead ends.
Either the move knocks out the opponent making the whole battle pointless or the opponent lives and the z-move was pointless.

What's even the point if they aren't gonna do anything? It's boring to watch and the only reason it's any less insufferable in game is because games are interactive media so you at least get to hit the button and there's a tiny bit of strategy in using/countering it as opposed to just being purely a visual effect.

Max Guard is another can of worms, why not just use it to block every attack? It's the same shit as how Protect/Detect users just spam it to block/dodge everything and only lose when they conveniently forget to use it.

Yes, I also noticed how it only has room to take a couple of steps forward and the animation has to mask it with inconsistent sizes. How convenient that it ends just as Charizard is about to breathe fire because then they'd have to show how these Pokemon can actually pull off flashy attacks in arena so small they barely have room to move to the side.

It's weird that I assumed dynamax approved arenas would be a lot bigger than normal to accommodate for the large size of two dynamaxed Pokemon. Granted depending on the two pokemon that battle 125m x 85m would still be enough for them.
