>>46504791Kanto: LGPE. The loss of Blue as your rival and shit sucks, but riding Pokemon, modern mechanics, no HMs, etc, absolutely make up for it. Aside from the lack of Blue, it's basically a remake of Yellow, the best gen 1 game, with the modern innovations. It's a no-brainer imo.
Johto: HGSS, just a strict improvement from gen 2. If I had to choose one, HeartGold just by virtue of the player's name being Gold.
Hoenn: I'd say ORAS, but Emerald is a valid take too. I think that megas, Soaring, primals, the Delta Episode, redesigned Hoenn, having Steven as your champion, etc, is worth the other downgrades ORAS has.
Sinnoh: Platinum, another no-brainer. Strictly better than DP.
Unova: I'd say that you absolutely *have* to play either black -> white 2 or white -> black 2, playing just one loses part of the experience, but if I had to pick one then White. Mostly since Reshiram fits N better than Zekrom, and the first games are more of a complete story since they're not sequels; so if you only play one, it makes more sense to only play them.
Kalos: kalosbros don't have a choice, sorry lads (but if I have to pick one of the two versions, Y, since Lysandre using Xerneas as fuel for a death machine is stupid).
Alola: USUM, a flat improvement over SM. Out of the two versions, I'd say this is the only one where one of the versions doesn't seem that much better/more "canon" than the others, though I think Nebby is usually portrayed as evolving into Solgaleo so Ultra Sun it is.
Galar: Sword, since Hop getting Zamazenta fits him better than Zacian. Then just add the DLC since they just add more content and shit.
