There were only 3 years between Persona 5 and Persona 5 Royal which didn't even need to be a thing because P5 was already on PS4 because they took so long to make it that the PS4 came out and got great sales. The beginning stages of development for Persona 5 took place right around Persona 4's release, so obviously they couldn't have planned for it to be on PS4 initially.
Persona 4 Golden was fine because it was cheap enough as a Vita game and because P4 was released on PS2 in 2008 which was effictively the end of the PS2's life (not counting shovelware and sports games). But there was no reason for P5 Royal to even exist with P5 being on a current gen console at the time.
Also fuck Atlas. Persona 5 is the worst of the modern Persona games to date.
