Hau has a complex in trying to be like Hala but it literally never ties into his character arc except almost in USUM, and Gladion is your common runaway boy cliche with nothing else interesting about him other than parkinson's.
The fact you can name a character that is literally irrelevant from XY like Alexa or Ramos but can't any character from SM that isn't constantly being shoved in your face or fapbait is telling.
I just want Pokemon to be good. They didn't need to start reinventing the wheel with regional gimmicks in Gen 7, it only made the newer regions feel like they have even less identity than they already do since it completely revolves around the dongle gimmick instead of the characters or themes like in XY.
